Resource Recovery Plant - A New Solution To Our Needs ?

Before the waste management crisis enters a crucial state in the capital city of Trivandrum, saju and family has devised an innovative method of waste disposal. The "Resource Recovery System “was devised by Mr saju three months ago at his hometown.

Waste is nothing but a misplaced resource, says saju. Using this thought he created the resource recovery system. By simply returning the waste into soil we can totally recover the resource from waste. With just rupees 250 and a 10sq inch of land this system can easily be set up.

The method is as follows-


The waste is considerably reduced by squeezing it with great force and disposed into a cylindrical furnace. The bacteria that is hazardous to humans and plants are destroyed by the exposed sunlight and heat. The waste is not turned into manure inside the furnace but becomes manure when the decomposed waste is dug into the soil. A single cylindrical furnace is filled within 3 to 4 months .Once the waste is filled the cylinder is removed and the waste inside would have turned into a cake like substance .This cake like substance is then removed and dug directly into the mud. The total disposal of waste and resource recover through an eco friendly way is the advantage of this system. Plastic wastes can also be disposed into this plant. Plastic covers and sheets are pressed into blocks and these blocks can be taken and given away for recycling .Inspired, saju’s neighbors have already started using this system.

Organic Fuel Oven- A Revolutionary Example For Waste Management


An environment friendly waste disposal system with the technique of disposing waste at very place of its origin was successfully created by Mr J. Rajendran .The organic fuel oven gains popularity as it produces energy along with disposal of waste. It was after 35 years of experience in field of environment protection that Rajedran developed the organic fuel oven.

The convenience of being able to set up this plant very close to homes is particularly noteworthy. The main components of this plant include an oven, a furnace cylinder, a water  boiling tank, a chimney and waste disposal boxes. The boxes can be moved in and out of the furnace cylinder. One box is for the plastics and the other for liquid wastes. Solid wastes can be directly disposed off through the furnace into the oven fire. The liquid waste will be kept in the furnace for some time till it loses its water content and then disposed into the fire. The plastics instead of being burnt directly will be cremated slowly and then joined to the oven .They are separated as thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics. Thermoplastics such as plastic covers and thin sheets can only be disposed to the fuel oven. Thermoplastics if cremated will only produce 90%less dioxin gas as compared to when they are burnt.Thermosetting plastics like comb mugs buckets produce 50% more dioxin when cremated.

The waste produced at home can be used to produce heat required for cooking. The heat from oven reaching the furnace can boil the water in the water boiling tank situated near the furnace and with necessary changes we can attach an oven near the furnace and use the heat produced for cooking purposes.

A waste management system that can reduce maximum environmental problems is what we require and it is not only a waste management system that we should look forward to but also a good culture towards waste management says Mr Rajedran.
