Robotic earthworms will gobble up our garbage
Much of what we throw away still has value. Metals, petroleum, and other components could get additional use if we extracted them, and robotic earthworms could do that for us. The tiny, agile robot teams will go through mines and landfills to extract anything of value, and digest the remaining heaps into quality top soil.
Implications: Besides at least one interesting job opportunity — “earthworm drivers” — resource reclamation offers significant opportunities for investment, both in the development and manufacturing of the cleanup technologies and in the recovery of valuable materials.

Budget Updations
The budget for 2012-13, giving importance to proper waste management has been issued by Deputy mayor G-Happy Kumar .
Sixty plans have been presented and the budget will soon be passed after discussions. The message of waste disposal at its origin will be upheld and related activities will be initiated with one lakh homes installed with pipe compost units being the first step.
Other plans includes installing io gas plants at various public places and giving a subsidy of 1% in tax for houses that install waste disposal systems.
